Rwanda: Past violence against protesters was ‘something that happened once’
Rwanda is "not new" to welcoming refugees to Rwanda from elsewhere in Africa, a spokesperson for the government in Rwanda tells Sky News – with 130,000 arriving over 30 years. Yolande Makolo said that close to 2,000 migrants from Libya came there after the war, and that all refugees have the choice as to where they ultimately end up. A protest in 2018 where some migrants were shot dead was "very regrettable" Ms Makolo said, and was "something that happened once".
