‘Countryside copper guarantee needed to tackle rural crime,’ says Sir Ed Davey

Sir Ed Davey is calling for the introduction of a ‘countryside copper guarantee’, which would see dedicated rural crime teams in every police force. The Liberal Democrat leader says "really shocking" research by his party has found only 0.4% of police are dedicated to rural crime teams in England and Wales. Speaking to Sky’s Anna Jones, Davey says: "Rural crime is really serious, affecting many communities. And there’s not the police there – or the technology there – to deal with it."
