Jumu’ah, or also known as Jumma (Arabic: صلاة الجمعة , ṣalāt al-jum‘ah, “Friday prayer”; Persian: نماز جمعه, Namaz jumah; Turkish: Cuma Namazı) is a congregational prayer (salat) that Muslims hold every Friday, just after noon instead of Zuhur prayers.
So what does Jumma Mubarak means?
Jumma Mubarak means ‘Blessed Friday’ and Friday is considered a blessed day for Muslims. On this day, Muslims not only have a congregational prayer, but they also listen to a lecture and make special prayers to get the most out of Allah’s blessings.
Why Friday is the Blessed Day of the Week?
It is being said by our Our Prophet Muhammad SAW,
The best day the sun rises over is Friday; on it Allah created Adam. On it, he was made to enter paradise, on it he was expelled from it, and the Last Hour will take place on no other day than Friday”. [Ahmad and At-Tarmithi]
And it is mentioned in Quran Tafsir Ibn Kathir,
It was named Jumu’ah because it is derived from the word Al-Jam’ in Arabic which means to gather, as Muslims gather on this day every week, and Allah has commanded the believers to gather for his Worship, as He says that which means: “O you who believe! When the call is proclaimed for Jumu’ah (Friday Prayers), come fast to the remembrance of Allah” [Quran 62:9] meaning be keen to go and attend it.
From various hadiths, it is also proven that Prophet Muhammad SAW used to celebrate this day and he declared Jumu’ah as a weekly Eid for Muslims. He used to wear clean, new clothes, take bath, wear fragrance and wear a Surmah for this day specially.
